The Tennessee Titans have some major decisions that are coming within this season and during the next offseason, as they will have to make some critical choices when it comes to the offensive line. None are bigger than the one that they will have to make with JC Latham.
If Latham fails to improve this year, the Titans will only have two options that they can consider moving forward.
Option 1: Move on Entirely

This is something that the Titans probably don’t want to do, as many can think back to the draft stock and how he was selected within the first 10 selections of the draft. This is a big year, and he will need to meet the expectations due to the fact that the Titans will have to make a tough decision when it comes to his contract, as he is entering the final year before they have to decide on his fifth-year option. If the Titans decline, he will only remain with the team for one year, unless the Titans then decide to extend him.
Prior to the season, there is no way that the Titans have seen enough from Latham to justify a fifth-year deal; however, they can’t just let go of the prospect either, in my opinion. He may still hold some true value, which is something that I discuss in option No. 2.
Option 2: Move Latham to Guard

One thing that has completely haunted Latham is his weight, as he has been overweight in most of his snaps as a Titan. He can’t control this as well as other players on the team, which has caused him to be a bit slower when it comes to the offensive tackle position. He has been tortured by speed rushers off the edge, and hasn’t really found a kryptonite to stop it.
If the Titans are looking at the things that he has struggled with, and their obvious need at right guard, unless Fernando Carmona is worth their while, they will have no other choice but to put Latham at guard, barring plans to finish out his rookie deal and let him walk.
