After appearing in each of the Titans’ first five games this season, defensive lineman Jordan Elliott did not play in their Week 6 win over the rival Indianapolis Colts. As it turns out, there was an incident at the team facility that occurred a few days prior. That incident has now resulted in Elliott’s removal from the team.
On Tuesday, Titans reporter Jim Wyatt shared a statement from the organization announcing that Elliott has been released. The team cited “an incident at our team facility involving Jordan Elliott” last week as the reason for his removal and said there would be no further comment.
“On Thursday, October 15, there was an incident at our team facility involving Jordan Elliott. Following our review of the incident, we have made the decision to release Elliott from our roster. We will have no further comment on the matter,” the team said in their statement.
It all makes sense now…
Longtime Titans writer Paul Kuharsky was one of many people who have pointed to this incident as yet another front office failure following the team’s decision to bench Alontae Taylor in Sunday’s game.
“Since (Titans President/CEO) Burke Nihill emphasized the #Titans football stability they healthy scratched a free-agent addition who got over $40M guaranteed (Alontae Taylor) and cut Jordan Elliott, who was doing good work as a run stopper, for an incident at the team’s facility,” Kuharsky noted on X.
Other fans expressed concern over what Elliott might have done to warrant a release after just five games.
“Very interesting now we know why Jordan Elliott was out. But this doesn’t sound good. Wonder if this is connected with Alontae Taylor as well but no clue,” one Titans fan wrote.
“What the heck did he do?” another asked.
“What is going on in the locker room? Alontae gets benched last week and now this with Elliott…” wrote a third.

2026 has already been a pretty rough year for the Tennessee Titans. They started the season 0-5 and looked historically bad in nearly all of those losses. It got so bad that the team had to publicly address a fan survey criticizing the team’s leadership.
Fortunately, the team got at least a little bit of grace with their win over the Colts on Sunday, but that grace won’t last if they resume their losing ways this weekend.
The Titans face the Cleveland Browns at home this Sunday.
