Tigers Make Roster Move After Blowing 7-Run Lead

The Detroit Tigers are turning to one of the organization's top prospects after Tuesday's stunning collapse against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Detroit is calling up outfielder Max Clark to the major leagues, according to Emily Waldon, giving the club one of its biggest prospect promotions of the season.

Clark's arrival comes less than a day after the Tigers squandered a 7-0 lead in a 12-inning loss, a defeat that further dented the club's postseason hopes. The promotion also reflects Detroit's continued commitment to its young core with the Monday trade deadline approaching.

The 21-year-old center fielder has earned the opportunity after an outstanding season across Double-A and Triple-A. Clark is batting .294 with a .382 on-base percentage, 15 home runs, 58 RBIs and 24 stolen bases in 89 games while continuing to establish himself as one of baseball's premier outfield prospects.

Detroit drafted Clark with the third overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft, and his combination of athleticism, defense and offensive production has accelerated his climb through the farm system.

Clark's promotion gives Tigers fans a glimpse of the organization's future during a difficult stretch of the season. With Detroit expected to evaluate both its young talent and veteran trade candidates ahead of the deadline, the outfielder should receive an opportunity to prove he belongs in the club's long-term plans.
