The Detroit Tigers are set to welcome one of their top young arms back this weekend after activating right-hander Jackson Jobe from the 60-day injured list.
Jason Beck of MLB.com first reported Wednesday that Jobe will make his 2026 season debut Saturday against the San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park. The start will mark his first major league appearance since May 28, 2025, after spending more than a year recovering from hybrid Tommy John surgery.
Detroit enters the series at 55-59, sitting fourth in the American League Central as it continues evaluating its young pitching following several trade deadline moves.
Jobe underwent hybrid Tommy John surgery in June 2025 and began a rehab assignment last month. Across five minor league rehab outings, the 24-year-old showed encouraging signs by regaining premium velocity, with his four-seam fastball touching 100.2 mph and averaging 98.8 mph.
Before suffering the elbow injury that led to hybrid Tommy John surgery, Jobe made 10 starts during the 2025 season, going 4-1 with a 4.22 ERA over 49.0 innings. The former top prospect struck out 39 batters while posting a 1.49 WHIP before being sidelined.

The Tigers are expected to start Keider Montero in Friday's series opener, followed by Jobe on Saturday and Troy Melton on Sunday. Melton has emerged as one of Detroit's brightest young pitchers this season, entering the weekend with a 7-1 record and a 1.58 ERA across 12 starts.
Jobe's return gives Detroit another high-upside arm as the club looks to finish the season on a positive note. After completing a lengthy rehabilitation process, the former first-round pick now has an opportunity to re-establish himself in the Tigers' rotation over the final two months of the regular season.
