The Detroit Tigers have not had a great start to the 2026 MLB season.
After blowing a 15 1/5 game division lead against the Cleveland Guardians in late 2025, the Tigers seemed to turn it around after fighting their way to the 15th inning of Game Five in the American League Division Series.
While times seemed to be looking up for Detroit, they have now fallen to 12 games under the .500 mark at a 30-42 record and sit in fourth place in the American League Central division. They have notable struggled mightily against their own division, having a 6-16 record against them.
However, the team may finally be turning it around to begin the dog days of summer. They have gone 8-4 in their first twelve games of June, and have been winning in a big way.
For a team that has struggled in the slugging and home run department this year, June has been a completely different story.
According to Tigers PR on X, "We've hit 30 homers in 12 games since the start of June. That's the most home runs of any 12-game span in the 125-year history of Tigers baseball."
A franchise record 30 home runs in a 12-game span is an incredible sign for a team that have faltered for over a year.
The franchise record was capped off on Monday with a three home run game from third basemen Colt Keith. Keith came into Monday's contest with a single home run on the season, he ended that game with four.
The entire team has contributed to his historic hot streak, with 12 unique players hitting home runs.
The charge is lead by catcher Dillon Dingler, who has five in 12 games. As well as first basemen Spencer Torkelson, third basemen Keith and outfielder Riley Greene, who each have four of their own.

The stretch has propelled the Tigers up to 17th in the league in home runs, with 81 in 72 games. As well as 16th place in slugging percentage, at .396.
The Tigers offense has been the key to their struggles over this last calendar year. They consistently receive excellent pitching, and even with ace Tarik Skubal missing time, the pitching staff still ranks 10th in ERA in the league at 3.93.
Detroit sits six games outside of a playoff spot, with a lot of season left to play, the Tigers could find their way back into the race with they can continue mashing.
