The Jacksonville Jaguars are in a position where the last thing on their mind should be the 2027 NFL Draft. A fantastic place to be if you're an NFL football fan. However, no team is perfect, and there is always room for improvement. What's the most efficient improvement measure for an NFL franchise? The NFL draft and the 2027 draft is shaping up to be historic, especially toward the top. Right now, the Jaguars are projected to have the 15th pick in next year's draft, and there are three projected first-round prospects that Jacksonville Jaguars fans should know before the season starts.
KJ Bolden, Safety, Georgia
Jacksonville has a lot of versatility in their defensive secondary right now, from Travis Hunter and Montaric Brown to Jarrian Jones and Jourdan Lewis; Jacksonville's secondary is a weapon going into this season.
However, what happens if Antonio Johnson has another year like last year, pulling in five interceptions, and the Jaguars don't have the money to bring him back?
Ladies and gentlemen: KJ Bolden.
A fearless player in the run game with effortless coverage ability, Bolden has come into the 2026 season as the clear first safety off the board if the 2027 NFL draft were tomorrow. His instincts diagnosing opposing offenses continually keep him in position to get his hands on the football and to make plays downhill.
Jordan Seaton, OT, LSU
The question marks surrounding the tackle positions continue. Anton Harrison is starting to make the most of his natural position, left tackle, while Cole Van Lanen starts training camp on the PUP list.
If there are still issues at the end of this season, one of the better solutions would be LSU's new left tackle, Jordan Seaton. Seaton has a chance to become the OT1 next draft, but he needs to improve his run blocking. If he still has that deficiency (or just isn't as solid as his pass-blocking, which may already be at an NFL level), we may see him still available near the middle of the first, especially with the kind of talent coming out of next year's draft.
Sammy Brown, LB, Clemson
One of the questions surrounding the 2026 Jaguars is who will play next to Foye Oluokun now that Devin Lloyd is on the Carolina Panthers. Right now, Ventrell Miller and Branson Combs are competing for the weakside linebacker spot. If neither of them can tie down the position long-term, an explosive mover like Sammy Brown can be a worthy first-round investment. A linebacking corps of two defenders with that level of versatility can really do wonders for a defense.
