The Tennessee Titans are set for their second contest of the preseason, as they will play their first home preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. Ahead of that contest, the Titans will go against the Seahawks in a joint practice.
There are many players worth monitoring, which ultimately leads to some massive position battles on the horizon. Here are three that I am watching the closest.
DeMarcus Lawrence vs. JC Latham

JC Latham was great in his outing against the 49ers, but that doesn’t mean that he is where he needs to be, especially considering this is a make-or-break season for him. He will have his hands full with DeMarcus Lawrence, who is likely going to rush off the EDGE against the young offensive tackle. This will be a key iron-sharpens-iron situation and will be a battle that is worth watching closely. I believe that Latham could come away with a win in this one, which is a massive boost of confidence.
Cam Ward vs. Ernest Jones IV

For those who like to watch chess matches, this is the exact battle that will be worth watching. Ernest Jones IV is the defensive leader for the Seattle Seahawks, who will be making the on-field calls against the Titans, while Titans quarterback Cam Ward will be the offensive leader, as expected. If he has a good outing, this could be what catapults him into having a massive outing in the preseason, which is something that is needed. This is going to be a matchup that showcases the great brains of leaders in the NFL.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba vs. Cor’Dale Flott

Anyone who watched the Titans game against the 49ers knows that Cor’Dale Flott was getting tortured against De’Zhaun Stribling. Now he will be playing against arguably the best wide receiver in all of the NFL, as he is matched up with Jaxon Smith-Njigba. If he can get some good reps, this will only prep him for the upcoming season, as he is one of the players who is bound to be a key player on the Titans’ defense.
