One of the many reasons there were so many doubts over Christian Pulisic's ability to lead the United States in the FIFA World Cup is his recent lackluster form at AC Milan. With just one more year under contract with the Serie A giants, there's growing speculation that he could change teams after the World Cup. And one of the top offers could bring him home.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport via Transfer News Live on X, the MLS club New York City FC (NYCFC) are prepared to offer Pulisic a whopping $10 million per year if he agrees to a transfer to their club. NYCFC would still have to pay AC Milan a premium transfer fee, but they can probably afford it.
"New York City are prepared to offer Christian Pulisic a contract worth $10M per year in an attempt to lure him away from AC Milan this summer," the X account noted. "The MLS side are ready to make a major move for the USMNT star as they look to bring him back to the United States."
Fans don't seem all that thrilled by the idea, with many pointing out that Pulisic needs to stay in Europe where the toughest competition is so that he'll continue to grow and thrive.
"Stay in Europe. His growth has been exponential since he started playin with AC Milan," one user on X argued.
"This is counterproductive to the development of our national team man," wrote another.
"Money isn’t everything, yes he will play in the mls one day but not now. A lot of unfinished business in Europe," a third wrote.
"Pulisic should stay in Europe. Best footballers are there. Let him compete against the best. He'll be a much better player for it."

Coming Home?
Pulisic has been playing soccer in Europe for the last 11 years. He joined the Borussia Dortmund youth side in 2015, then their senior squad a year later.
In 2019, Pulisic moved to Premier League powerhouse Chelsea FC on a $73 million transfer - the largest fee ever paid for a North American soccer player - and went on to win the Champions League with the club a season later.
In 2023, he transferred to AC Milan, where he soon emerged as one of the top goal scorers in Serie A. However, his goal scoring ability and availability seemed to diminish this past season. He scored eight goals in 30 games after scoring 11 or more goals in the previous two seasons.
