The 2026 college football season is far from over, but there’s already chatter about Texas losing Arch Manning to the transfer portal.

This season has been a struggle for Manning, who is completing 63.9% of his passes for 1,295 yards with 11 touchdowns and five interceptions. Not only did he have a costly pick-six in an upset loss to Oklahoma, he had a game-sealing fumble against Florida at home.

Manning’s struggles have been so noticeable that former ESPN analyst Todd McShay is no longer expecting him to go No. 1 overall in the 2027 NFL Draft. He’s not even sure if the former five-star recruit will go pro.

“Explore a transfer? — There’s still time to turn this season around,” McShay wrote on X. “I’m more bullish on his NFL future than the social media doom suggests, but another college season currently looks like his best path.”

While on “The Bill Simmons Podcast” this week, NFL insider Tom Pelissero provided an update on Manning’s future. A source close to the Texas quarterback told Pelissero that a move to Ole Miss could be in the cards.

“I texted one person who’s known Arch (Manning) a long time earlier tonight, and I said, ‘Where do you see Arch in 2027?’ And his response was Ole Miss,” Pelissero said.

Manning would be an interesting option to replace Trinidad Chambliss next season, that’s for sure.

Would Arch Manning follow in his uncle’s footsteps?

Arch’s uncle, Eli Manning, spent four seasons at Ole Miss before becoming the No. 1 pick in the 2004 NFL Draft. He had 10,119 passing yards and 81 touchdowns during his run with the Rebels.

Although we’re unsure if Arch will go to Ole Miss, his uncle recently discussed the benefits of staying in college.

“Every year it’s an opportunity to play more games, get more prepared for the NFL, to win an SEC championship, to be a captain of the team,” Eli Manning said. “It’s not just about getting to the NFL and going the next step. It’s about enjoying your experience, enjoying your teammates and building something special with the guys that have been there together. I’m proud of Arch and how he’s handling this.”

Do you think Arch will enter the transfer portal?
