Does Mark Zuckerberg want to buy the Seahawks?

The Seattle NFL franchise, which is fresh off a Super Bowl win, is up for sale. The NFC West franchise could fetch $10 billion or more.

Zuckerberg, the $200 billion founder of Facebook, is rumored to be interested in the team. That's what Front Office Sports reported on Thursday, anyway. Zuckerberg and Apple CEO Tim Cook are among the rumored bidders.

"Five sources familiar with the matter tell Front Office Sports they’ve heard Zuckerberg is considering a bid, while four say Cook is separately weighing an offer. The identities of the other two potential bidders were not clear, nor was it known whether any formal offers had been made," FOS reported.

But later on Thursday, Puck's Dylan Byers pushed back on the report, suggesting that Zuckerberg and Cook are not interested in owning the Seahawks, but rather just interested in investing into a fund that could buy the team.

"Mark Zuckerberg isn't considering a bid for the Seahawks. ... He may be invested in a fund that's putting forward a bid... but that's a very different thing ... I assume same true for Tim Cook," he reported.

"This isn't true. Mark Zuckerberg and Tim Cook are not considering bids for the Seattle Seahawks, per sources close to both men. Period, full stop."

Byers remained agonized by the FOS report later on Thursday.

"Neither Mark nor Tim are interested in acquiring the team. *At best* they're invested in a capital fund that wants to buy the team, but they have no involvement with that. This isn't speculation, it's based on sources who know," he added.

For what it's worth, Bloomberg also reported on Thursday that neither Zuckerberg nor Cook are interested in buying the team.

The Seahawks are estimated to be on track to break the Commanders' record sale price of $6 billion.
