The Steelers know that Aaron Rodgers will be their starting quarterback this fall. Pittsburgh is yet to know if Rodgers will start at all this preseason.
Rodgers, 42, hasn't played meaningful preseason action in a long time. But the four-time NFL MVP could be in for a change of plans this month. The Steelers have a new head coach in former Packers head coach Mike McCarthy. The ex-Dallas Cowboys head coach has some different plans for Rodgers.
The veteran NFL quarterback has made it clear that he doesn't really want to play in the preseason. At his age, what does he have to get out of it, other than risking injury?
But McCarthy could force the situation.

McCarthy said on Monday that Rodgers could ultimately be swayed into playing in the preseason, at least for a game or two.
The Steelers could essentially 'force' Rodgers to play
McCarthy made it clear that he wants Rodgers to play two games this preseason.
“Those decisions, really, will be made once we get up to it,” McCarthy said, via Mark Kaboly of The Pat McAfee Show. “Trust me, I have a lot of ideas. … We have plans. But being in a healthy system, let’s see what happens — a lot can happen between now and then, too.
“But he’d like to play. I would like to see him play. But we won’t make a decision until we get all the way up to it because there’s more that goes into that than just having one player play. It’s the combination of the players.”
It'll be interesting to see who wins out.
