Zilla Fatu has officially arrived in WWE, but his road to NXT wasn’t exactly a smooth one.
The son of late WWE star Umaga made his surprise debut on the August 11 episode of NXT, attacking Cruz Montana and Grayson Waller during the main event. At 26 years old, Fatu is now the newest member of wrestling’s famed Bloodline family to make his way to WWE.
But three years before his WWE debut, Fatu’s wrestling career appeared to hit a major roadblock when he abruptly left Booker T’s Reality of Wrestling.

Why Did Zilla Fatu Leave Reality of Wrestling?
Fatu began training at Reality of Wrestling and made his in-ring debut in July 2023. Less than two months later, Booker T announced that Fatu was no longer with the promotion because of what he called “irreconcilable differences.”
Fatu later explained that there wasn’t one explosive incident behind the split. Instead, he and Booker simply had different visions for his career.
“My vision and his vision… just didn’t connect,” Fatu said at the time, while emphasizing that the two remained on good terms.
And importantly, the story didn’t end there. Fatu and Booker reconciled in 2024, leading Fatu back to Reality of Wrestling. Booker eventually became one of his biggest advocates, publicly saying he wanted to help Fatu reach WWE.
Now, that goal has become reality.
Personally, I think Fatu has legitimate future main-event potential. He’s only 26, already carries himself like a star, and has something WWE can’t manufacture: a natural connection to one of wrestling’s most important families.
His name may open the door, but what makes Fatu particularly intriguing is how much time he still has to become something entirely his own.
