The 2026 ESPYS took place on Wednesday night in New York City.
Marcello Hernandez of "Saturday Night Live" fame hosted the awards show, which featured appearances from Myles Garrett, Jalen Brunson, Eileen Gu and many more across the sports world. No jokes were spared, of course.
Tiger Woods, unsurprisingly, was on the receiving end of a DUI joke from the host of the program. Woods was arrested for DUI in Florida earlier this year, when his SUV rolled over on a residential street.
“I wanna congratulate one player. I wanna congratulate Caleb Williams, the quarterback for the Chicago Bears, who will be on the cover of the new Madden video game. Congratulations to Caleb,” the host stated.
“And... Tiger Woods will be on the cover of Grant Theft Auto. [pause and laughs] I love you, Tiger. I'm a big fan, man... It's just, it was written so well."
The ESPYS are getting ripped for the joke, though
Not everyone was happy about it.
"Stole his jokes from a decade old south park episode. What a hack. No one knows who this guy is and he’s making jokes about Gillis, one of the biggest comics in the game. Sad," one fan wrote.
"Did a 15 year old come up with these? What an embarrassment of a night for this dude," one fan added.
"1. This is a South Park joke 2. The phrasing is so weak coming from a comedian," one fan added.
"Awkward and not funny...best you could do, ESPYS??" one fan added.
"Just classless," another added.
"Tiger Woods jokes in 2026?" one fan added.
"This dude is unbelievably corny and unfunny," another fan wrote.
Jokes are jokes, but it's clear that the ESPYS host is taking some heat on social media for what he said about Tiger Woods.
