Tony Romo is in need of a new job.
The former Dallas Cowboys quarterback turned CBS Sports broadcaster parted ways with the network, a few months after his offseason arrest. Romo was pulled over on suspicion of impaired driving in Milwaukee, Wisconsin over the summer, following a golf outing.
“I’m proud of what I accomplished at CBS Sports over the last nine years. I approached my role as a game analyst the way I’ve approached everything in my life — with a desire to win and be the best that I can be,” Romo said. “I’m going to use this time to take a break, something I’ve never done before, and focus on my health and my family before moving on to my next opportunity. I am grateful for my time with CBS Sports and for the continued support of my family and friends, as well as the NFL community and fans.”
Romo had entered a no-contest plea for his arrest earlier this fall. He said that multiple back surgeries “left me with constant, debilitating pain.” Romo noted that the pain “led to a dependence on pain medication, and my efforts to get off those medications led to an over-reliance on alcohol.”
“None of this is an excuse,” Romo said. “These are my failures and I take responsibility for them.”

It’ll be interesting to see where Romo lands next, if he wants to stay in sports broadcasting.
But a notable thought is emerging: Could Romo land with the Dallas Cowboys?
Jerry Jones remains one of his biggest fans.
Longtime Dallas Cowboys insider Mike Fisher is floating the possibility of Jerry Jones hiring Romo to some kind of role within the franchise. We’ve seen other former NFL stars, like John Elway and John Lynch and now Troy Aikman, land role with franchises in the front office departments.
Could Romo be next?
It would be interesting to see Romo getting into coaching or front office work, if he wants to put sports broadcasting on hold.
