The Cleveland Browns could reportedly be on the verge of selling a small share of the franchise.

Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports reported Tuesday morning that NFL owners are expected to vote on a sale later in the day. The Browns are selling 3 percent of the team to Arctos, a private investment firm based in Dallas.

If the sale is approved, Arctos will hold stakes in three AFC teams. The firm also owns 8 percent of the Los Angeles Chargers and 10 percent of the Buffalo Bills.

Arctos has invested in numerous other sports teams, including the Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, and Golden State Warriors.

Jimmy and Dee Haslman purchased the Browns from Randy Lerner in 2012. They haven't seen much prosperity during a period that has included two playoff appearances and a winless season in 2017.

Cleveland followed an unexpected playoff berth in 2023 by going 3-14 in 2024 and 5-12 last season. The Haslams responded by replacing head coach Kevin Stefanski with former Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken.

That's not the only coaching change the Haslams have overseen. They also own 25 percent of the Milwaukee Bucks, who hired Taylor Jenkins after missing the playoffs behind Doc Rivers. Jimmy Haslam indicated during the introductory press conference that he plans to spend more time with his NBA team.

"Do I think we’ll be here more? I do," Haslam said earlier this month. "And very, very excited to continue working with (GM) Jon (Horst), and we’ve already established a great relationship with Taylor — to work with he and the guys to build the kind of team that this community deserves."

Meanwhile, the Browns face their own crossroads in 2026 that could require Haslam's attention. Deshaun Watson will attempt to return from two Achilles tears to reclaim the starting job from Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel.
