The Texas Longhorns are trending toward their first addition in the 2028 recruiting class. With five straight top 10 cycles from 2022 to 2026, Steve Sarkisian and his staff are hoping to keep things going
Landing a quarterback early would give them a major momentum boost early on. That's why the Longhorns have made signal caller Neimann Lawrence, out of Miami, Florida, a top priority.
Neimann is close to making a decision and will announce his commitment on June 25. He is choosing between the Longhorns, Texas A&M Aggies, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Michigan Wolverines and Miami Hurricanes.

Texas has worked hard to make a strong impression, already hosting the quarterback for two unofficial visits. Not only are they aiming to boost their 2028 cycle, but also keeping Lawrence away from their in-state rivals, Texas A&M.
Fortunately for Sarkisian and his staff, they are emerging as the favorite in this battle. On Wednesday, Rivals' vice president of recruiting and transfer portal, Steve Wiltfong, logged an expert prediction for Texas to land Lawrence. He has been correct in 1,194 of his 1,296 all-time predictions.
This would serve as a major addition for the Longhorns. At 6-foot-0.5 and 202 pounds, he is a four-star recruit, the No. 6 quarterback and the No. 67 player in the nation, per Rivals Industry Rankings.
He is also coming off an impressive sophomore season at Northwestern High School. In 10 games, the Miami native completed 131-of-185 passes for 1,971 yards, 32 touchdowns, one interception, and a 142.8 quarterback rating.
With a decision less than a month away, Texas is looking to maintain its momentum as the frontrunner going into Lawrence's announcement.
