The Houston Texans enter Sunday’s Week 7 game against the New York Giants after back-to-back wins, including a dramatic 34–31 victory over Jacksonville in London. With the roster still being reshaped, Houston has made several practice-squad and active-roster moves to strengthen its depth.
Tank Dell is expected to make his long-awaited return, while injuries have created uncertainty at running back and in the secondary. David Montgomery and Jalen Pitre are among the key absentees, leaving Houston to rely on its available personnel against a Giants team starting J.J. McCarthy at quarterback.
Texans Transactions Before the Giants Game
October 21: Kenneth Murray Returns to the Practice Squad. Running back Jawhar Jordan placed on the practice squad injured list.
Murray’s return adds linebacker depth after his earlier release. Jordan’s placement on the injured list means Houston must look elsewhere for backfield depth while he recovers.
October 20: Two Practice-Squad Additions
Defensive tackle Kyonte Hamilton and cornerback Collin Wright were signed to the practice squad. Houston released Quarterback Mark Gronowski and defensive tackle Aaron Graves. Waived linebacker Jamal Hill.
Hamilton and Wright give Houston additional options along the defensive line and in the secondary. The departures create room for the new additions and allow the team to adjust its reserve personnel.
October 17: Defensive Reinforcements and Game-Day Elevations
Texans activated Defensive back Ja’Marcus Ingram and linebacker Henry To’oTo’o to the active roster, while elevating cornerback Bryce Hall and running back Jawhar Jordan from the practice squad. They also waived Aiden Fisher and Collin Wright.

Ingram and To’oTo’o strengthened the active roster, while Hall and Jordan were available to provide additional game-day depth against Jacksonville. The moves also reflect Houston’s need to cover multiple positions during an injury-heavy stretch.
October 15: Chris Braswell Joins the Practice Squad
Houston signed defensive end Chris Braswell to the practice squad, releasing linebacker Kenneth Murray.
Braswell’s addition gave Houston another developmental option on the defensive front. Murray’s subsequent return to the practice squad on October 21 shows how quickly roster decisions can change during the season.
October 14: Offensive-Line Reinforcement
Activated Tackle Braden Smith from the reserve/injured list while signing quarterback Mark Gronowski and wide receiver Bryce Oliver.
Activating Smith provided another option at tackle, an important position as Houston works to improve its protection and running game. The quarterback and receiver signings also added practice depth.
October 13: Roster Departures
Houston released center Gavin Gerhardt and wide receiver Daniel Sobkowicz.
The team continued reshaping its depth chart before the Week 6 game in London. Murray’s later return to the practice squad shows that a release does not necessarily end a player’s time with a team.
