Former women's tennis star Maria Sharapova seems to be enjoying her time away from the spotlight.
Sharapova, 39, had an outstanding career on the WTA Tour that nearly lasted two decades. She won five Grand Slam titles, earned a silver medal in the 2012 Olympics, and was once ranked No. 1 in the world. Despite her success on the court, she was always one step ahead when it came to planning the next chapter of her career.
"I recognized from an early age that as a woman, my career would end much sooner than in other professions," Sharapova told the WSJ Leadership Institute. "I was like, 'I've got to hustle. I've got to start learning from other people.'"
Earlier this year, Sharapova launched her own podcast with Vox Media called “Pretty Tough.” Her show focuses on female ambition and the pursuit of excellence.
While it won't be long before Sharapova shares a new episode, fans are currently in awe of her latest social media post.
Sharapova kicked off her Thursday morning by posting photos of her jumping into a pool while wearing a red one-piece swimsuit.
"You're a perfect woman in this world," one fan commented.
"Just a cool lady in red," another fan said.
"Wow beauty," an Instagram user wrote.
Sharapova once posed for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit.
The Russian tennis star made her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit debut in 2006, posing for photos on the beaches of Turks and Caicos.
“If it’s fashion you’re interested in, if it’s technology or if it’s a particular value or people that you just find are interesting, that’s what you go for,” Sharapova once told Glossy. There’s a lot to consider, and I’d say relationships that maybe start as smaller deals, but have a very strong foundation that will put in marketing dollars to elevate you as a human, might be worth more than taking a big paycheck from a company that doesn’t have a lot of marketing spend.”
Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova opened the door for other tennis stars to pose for SI Swimsuit, such as Genie Bouchard, Naomi Osaka and Caroline Wozniacki.
