The Tennessee Titans returned to action on Monday, as they practiced for the second time since returning from San Francisco following a win over the 49ers at Levi's Stadium. While the injury bug has been going around, another injury has occurred.

According to a report from Terry McCormick, Titans' expected second-string quarterback Mitchell Trubisky suffered an injury during practice on Monday and was forced to leave immediately. The report indicated he was walked to the locker room with a trainer. The injury appears to involve his arm, as he was favoring it when he headed inside to get checked out.

The injury happened on a ball that sailed on Trubisky while he was throwing deep. Given that, the shoulder appears to be the likely issue, which is something McCormick pointed out in his post announcing the injury.

With the injury just having happened, there is no diagnosis yet. But if it turns out to be a long-term injury, the Titans will need to determine who can step up.

Who Steps Up to the Plate

Is it Will Levis' time in Nashville? It certainly feels that way following the injury. Levis was in a quarterback battle with Mitchell Trubisky for the priority backup role behind Cam Ward. Ward is the obvious starter as long as he stays healthy, which will be worth monitoring, as he takes a beating in the pocket due to the lack of protection he gets from the offense.

Levis is a young gunslinger with a great arm, but he isn't the sharpest quarterback when it comes to accuracy. That is one of the main reasons the Titans felt the need to move on from him so early, drafting Ward in the 2025 NFL Draft, just two drafts after Levis was selected in the second round.

The out-of-the-box solution could be Hendon Hooker, who is expected to be last on the depth chart but now has a chance to shine in team period drills if he's given the reps Levis previously had. This will be a great chance for the Titans to truly judge what he has to offer.
