Will LeBron James represent Team USA at the 2028 Olympics? It sounds unlikely, but fans shouldn't rule out that possibility.
James, who recently signed with the Philadelphia 76ers, has captured three Olympic gold medals with Team USA (2008, 2012, 2024). Despite being out of his prime, he averaged 14.2 points, 8.5 assists, and 6.8 rebounds per game for his country during the Paris Olympics. That being said, he was rightfully named the MVP of the 2024 Olympics.
Although he still has some gas left in the tank, James told Steph Curry in November of 2025 that he's done wearing the Team USA jersey.
"You already know my answer," James said in regards to the 2028 Olympics. "I will be watching it."
Even though James seems ready to put his Olympic career behind him, ESPN's Brian Windhorst said Team USA is willing to give the four-time MVP a roster spot for the 2028 Summer Games.

Who'll represent Team USA in 2028?
There are a few players who'll be locks to make Team USA for the 2028 Olympics, such as Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards and Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum.
Team USA could also have a few guards from the Eastern Conference, like Jalen Brunson, Cade Cunningham and Tyrese Haliburton.
As for new faces, don't sleep on Cooper Flagg and Kon Knueppel. It's possible we see the former Duke teammates reunite on Team USA.
