Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark was part of Team USA that won gold in the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup last month. Under head coach Kara Lawson, the WNBA All-Star came off the bench but was one of the most impactful players on the roster.
In six games for Team USA, Clark averaged 7.8 points and a team-high 5.3 assists. She also had the best plus-minus rating on the team at +20.2.
Clark also had the most total assists in the tournament with 32, establishing herself as one of the best playmakers in women’s basketball.
While Clark never started for Team USA, she was among the top five on the team in terms of minutes per game (19.3).
It was also clear after the FIBA World Cup that she and Lawson had developed a close relationship, with the Team USA tactician even commenting on Clark’s post after the competition to share that she was “proud” of her.

Clark and Lawson’s close relationship was evident once again on Saturday when the veteran coach showed support for the Fever star while at Duke.
In a post on social media, Duke Women’s Basketball shared a photo of Lawson wearing Clark’s Caitlin 1 Blue Racer shoes during practice. The team also included photos of Clark and Lawson during their time together with the U.S. national team.
“countdown kicks,” Duke wrote, while tagging both Clark and Lawson.
Fans absolutely loved Lawson’s decision to wear Clark’s shoes, which officially launched on Thursday. Several followers highlighted the subtle show of support.
“Classy lady. Subtle support is the best,” a fan wrote. Another one said, “Let’s go coach!! Let’s go CC.”
“I like this coach,” a poster added.
A supporter shared, “This is amazing!”
“That’s pretty tough! Love to see it,” a fifth follower stated.
