United States ice hockey star Hilary Knight grabbed headlines on Saturday after she made history at the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics. The U.S. women’s hockey team captain led her squad to a 5-0 win against Finland in their second game of the Winter Olympics.
Knight scored a goal in the second period to give the Americans a 4-0 lead. It was a historic score for the Seattle Torrent star. It was her second goal of the 2026 Olympics and her 14th overall. Knight tied Natalie Darwitz and Katie King for most Olympic goals in U.S. women’s hockey history.

Team USA dominated Canada on Tuesday, 5-0. The Americans finished the preliminary round with a perfect 4-0-0-0 record after defeating their archrivals. Canada was without star and captain Marie-Philip Poulin due to injury, but it was still an impressive victory for Team USA.
Knight did not score against Canada. However, she assisted Carolina Harvey for the opening goal. Now playing in her fifth Olympics, Knight recorded her 18th career assist. Combined with her 14 goals, the 36-year-old made history with her 32nd Olympic point.
Team USA took to social media to announce Knight’s historic milestone.
“SHE. DID. THAT. 😤 With her latest point, @HilaryKnight has officially tied Jenny Potter for the most all-time points in U.S. women's #WinterOlympics hockey history!” Team USA posted on X.
Knight has an opportunity to make even more history in Team USA’s next game. Her next goal will see her set the all-time record for most goals and points in U.S. women’s ice hockey history.
Team USA returns to action on Friday in a quarterfinal matchup against Italy. Right now, Knight and Co. are just three wins away from winning another gold medal. The Americans are looking to make amends after their second-place finish in the 2022 Beijing Olympics.
