Taylor Swift is one with every American who is supporting Team USA at the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics. With the Games winding down, the medal tally is starting to take shape.
As of writing, Norway still leads the pack with 17 gold medals and 36 total medals. The United States is second with nine golds and 27 in total.
U.S. Alpine skier Mikaela Shiffrin is responsible for one of those nine gold medals. This after the 30-year-old ski racer dominated the field in the women’s slalom final on Wednesday. Shiffrin secured the gold medal with a time of 1 minute, 39.10 seconds. The Vail, Colorado native’s time was a full 1.50 seconds ahead of silver medalist Camille Rast of Switzerland.

Shiffrin made history with her first medal in the 2026 Games. She failed to secure a podium finish in her first two events — the team combined and the giant slalom — but the American star redeemed herself in her final competition.
After winning three medals in her previous three Winter Games, Shiffrin is now a four-time Olympic medalist. She tied Julia Mancuso as the most decorated American female Alpine skier in Olympic history.
Shiffrin took to social media on Thursday to share a photo from her race. Swift jumped in the comments section to share her one-word reaction.
“HISTORIC 🥇🥇🥇” wrote the 14-time Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter.
In her comment, Swift added three gold medal emojis. These represent the three Olympic gold medals Shiffrin has in her collection.
Shiffrin is a known Swiftie. In July 2023, she attended the Eras Tour stop in Denver. The Olympian was one of the tens of thousands of fans who packed Empower Field at Mile High.
Shiffrin described the concert as “otherworldly.” In a previous interview, Shiffrin explained why she’s a big fan of Swift.
"I think she's brilliant writing lyrics, and with the music and the melodies and who she does collaborations with and every single one of her albums is unique and different, I love every single one,” Shiffrin said. “I think she's one of the most beautiful, brilliant artists.”
Swift may not have been in Italy to witness Shiffrin make history, but this time around, it was the pop star supporting the skiing icon.
