Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic “Siuuu” celebration has evolved far beyond the soccer pitch, turning into a massive global phenomenon. Fueled by viral internet culture, massive fan moments, and streamers like IShowSpeed, who famously popularized the celebration, athletes across entirely different sports regularly copy Ronaldo’s signature move.
Despite its massive popularity, not everyone is thrilled to see the celebration being copied in American football.
NFL Athletes Urged to Stop the Cristiano Ronaldo Celebration
Former Raiders quarterback Derek Carr recently voiced his frustration on the Home Grown podcast alongside his brother, David Carr, asking players to stop the practice entirely.
“NFL players, we are begging you. Please stop doing this celebration. I can’t take anymore,” Derek Carr said.
“There’s only one Cristiano Ronaldo,” he added before urging players to leave the celebration behind for the sake of safety.

“Can we please officially retire this celebration from the NFL? I care about your health.” In the NFL, multiple athletes have copied it over the past few years.
LA Rams wide receiver Davante Adams famously led teammates and a packed crowd at Wembley Stadium in London in a synchronized ‘Siuuu’ celebration after scoring against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Other players, such as Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, have also done the same after scoring touchdowns.
While fans love the crossover appeal, the Carr brothers are drawing the line and hoping players will leave the legendary soccer celebration behind.
