Golden State Warriors point guard Steph Curry has nothing left to prove in the NBA. The 37‑year‑old superstar, however, is playing like he still has something to chase, performing at an elite level and showing no signs of slowing down.

Across 17 seasons, Curry has collected 12 All‑Star selections, 11 All‑NBA honors, two MVPs and four NBA championships, cementing himself as the greatest player in franchise history.

He continues to extend his lead as the NBA’s all‑time leader in 3‑pointers made, reshaping the sport with his shooting range, off‑ball movement and ability to stretch defenses in ways no other player can.

This year, Curry has averaged 27.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 4.8 assists while shooting 46.8% from the field and 39.1% from beyond the arc across 39 games.

However, Curry has been banged up this season, as have most of the Warriors. No injury has been more devastating than forward Jimmy Butler’s torn ACL in January, which ruled him out for the rest of this season and part of next.

Curry has dealt with his own setbacks, including a left quad strain, left ankle sprain and most recently, left knee discomfort that has sidelined him for Golden State’s last five games.

The Warriors return to action Thursday at home against the Boston Celtics, a matchup Curry originally viewed as a possible return date. That will not happen.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr announced Wednesday that Curry did not practice and has been ruled out for Thursday’s game. Kerr added that Curry will continue to be evaluated by the training staff, and there is a chance he will undergo another MRI.

Kerr also noted that Curry himself knew his knee was not right, and that he was not ready for a full workout (h/t Nick Friedell of The Athletic).

With Curry’s timeline still unclear, the Warriors will see what this group can do while he recovers, especially after their big trade‑deadline addition of Kristaps Porzingis, who arrived from the Atlanta Hawks. Golden State hopes Porzingis can elevate its ceiling and help it climb the Western Conference standings.

The Warriors’ chances rise dramatically whenever Curry is on the floor, and the latest update suggests his return may not come as soon as hoped. He is still the offensive engine, still the player who gives them belief. Now he just needs to get healthy, and Golden State must stay competitive long enough for him to return and make another push.
