Stephanie White Addresses Fever Decision in Loss to Liberty

Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White gave Myisha Hines-Allen her flowers for her contributions off the bench.

White and the Fever played their fourth straight away game on Saturday when they visited the New York Liberty at Barclays Center.

Indiana absorbed a close 109-102 defeat at the hands of the Liberty. After the game, coach White addressed her decision to give Hines-Allen extended minutes and keep her on the floor during the crucial stretch.

“Yeah, I’m really proud of her,” White said. “She had, I don’t know how many (Did Not Plays) in a row, and she’s always ready.”

White pointed out that Hines-Allen provided incredible energy, which made her decide to keep her on the floor.

“She’s always ready,” White continued. “I thought we put her in there, and she gave us energy right away. Did a great job on the defensive end of the floor, her activity level.”

Hines-Allen finished the game with four points, seven rebounds and one assist in 14 minutes of action. The 30-year-old showed out after not getting any minutes in two out of the Fever’s last three games.

The former WNBA Coach of the Year winner also commended Hines-Allen for always being prepared when her number is called.

“I think first play she went right to the rim,” White added. “It’s not easy to do, but it’s the job, right? And I think she’s a great example for all of our players to stay ready so you don’t have to get ready. She was impactful.”

This is Hines-Allen’s first season with Indiana after signing a one-year, $315,000 contract in free agency. She previously played for the Washington Mystics, Minnesota Lynx and Dallas Wings.

Despite the loss, Indiana has already clinched their spot in the 2026 WNBA Playoffs.
