Dallas Mavericks guard Klay Thompson is one of the best shooters in basketball history. In fact, his 14 triples against the Chicago Bulls in 2018 remain the NBA record for the most 3-pointers in a single game.
Thompson further cemented his status as an all-time great shooter on Thursday night after he led the Mavericks to a 144-122 win against the Utah Jazz. Thompson shot 6-of-13 from the 3-point line for a team-high 26 points.
The Mavs guard climbed the 3-point leaderboard with his performance, surpassing Damian Lillard for the fourth-most career triples in league history. Entering the game, he was at 2,803 triples and needed just two to surpass Lillard's 2,804.

The NBA quickly announced Thompson's milestone on social media and congratulated him. The Mavericks also made sure to honor him.
On Friday, Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry also reacted to the historic development.
"Yeahhh Killa!" Curry wrote to Thompson while sharing the NBA's announcement about his accomplishment.
Curry and Thompson played together with the Warriors from 2011 to 2024. The sharpshooting duo eventually became known as the "Splash Brothers" since they are both threats from beyond the arc.
Unfortunately, the two split up when Thompson decided to join the Mavericks in the 2024 offseason.
Regardless, it's clear Curry has nothing but love and admiration for his former Warriors teammate.
The Mavericks return to action against the Jazz on Saturday. Meanwhile, Curry and the Dubs play the Charlotte Hornets on the same day.
Thompson and Curry will have a chance to meet son, as the Mavericks face the Warriors next week.
