Steph Curry is doing everything in his power to help the Golden State Warriors land LeBron James in free agency.
The Warriors emerged as a suitor for James the moment he informed the Los Angeles Lakers that he wasn't coming back for the 2026-27 season. NBA reporter Nick Friedell made the argument that Golden State can provide James the "basketball happiness" that he's looking for.
“LeBron is looking for basketball happiness at the end,” Friedell said, via the New York Post. “There’s no better place to do that than here, flatly. He’s got a chemistry with Steph. He knows Draymond for all these years. He knows what Steve Kerr’s all about. They lived it and won a gold medal together in Paris at the Olympics. The Warriors, on top of all that, and I think this has gotten lost in the shuffle. They let their players be who they are. Look at Jimmy Butler.”
During an appearance on "Good Morning America," Curry shared his recruiting pitch for James. The four-time NBA champion and two-time MVP made it clear that he's more than willing to share the spotlight with another legend.
"We know how to win, beautiful weather, great golf… I know he’s into that. But like you said, the USA experience that we had, the battles that we had over the years, we just know how to play basketball. And I think that he’ll enjoy just the idea of what it means to finish your career the right way," Curry said. "He knows what he wants, and eventually he’ll make that decision. It’s totally up to him, but we’re having fun with it, knowing that he’s got his pick of the entire league, wherever he wants to go, to be honest."

Who else remains in the LeBron sweepstakes?
Shams Charania mentioned the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat and Philadelphia 76ers as the main suitors for James.
“He’s made it clear he wants to be a part of a team where he has a chance to compete for a championship, a new team environment, and a culture he can be a part of,” Charania said.
Even at the age of 41, James averaged 20.9 points and 7.2 assists per game for the Lakers last season. There's no doubt he can still bring value to a playoff contender.
