Golden State Warriors superstar Steph Curry took an awfully long time to return from what was initially believed to be a minor knee injury. The four-time NBA champion point guard missed more than two months after suffering multiple setbacks on his road to recovery.
Curry, however, made it well worth the wait on his return on Sunday night. The former back-to-back MVP went off for a team-high 29 points on 11-of-21 shooting, two rebounds, four assists, a steal and five three-pointers. Curry did all that despite coming off the bench and having his minutes capped at 26.
Unfortunately for Golden State, not even Curry’s long-awaited return to action was enough to lift them to victory. The Warriors lost a close one at Chase Center to Kevin Durant and the Houston Rockets, 117-116.

Curry spoke to reporters after Sunday’s loss, which marked Golden State’s fourth consecutive defeat.
Despite the undesirable outcome of the game. Curry was upbeat as he discussed his return to the court. The 12-time All-Star also came out with a personal admission about how he felt ahead of his comeback.
“There were a lot of nerves all day. My family supported me at home when I was a nervous wreck,” Curry revealed. “… I appreciate the fans, the reception and the buzz in the arena. Because you know, at a certain point, you won’t be able to tap into that. Beautiful day.”
The Warriors did not get the result they wanted, but the most important thing is that Curry returned without any problems.
The 11-time All-NBA point guard will use the remainder of the regular season to ramp up. The Warriors have four games left, starting with a home matchup against the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday.
The Warriors are headed to the play-in as (currently) the 10th seed in the Western Conference.
