DK Metcalf and the Pittsburgh Steelers are rapidly approaching the start of the 2026 NFL regular season, looking to rebound after a disappointing 3-06 loss to the Houston Texans in the Wild Card round of the 2026 NFL playoffs. Pittsburgh moved on from head coach Mike Tomlin after 19 seasons.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the DK Metcalf connection was strong last season, with Metcalf finishing with 59 receptions, along with 850 receiving yards and six touchdowns. Rodgers, on the other hand, had 3,322 passing yards, 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

The connection between the two is apparently strong off the field, too. Rodgers appeared on teammate Cameron Heyward’s podcast, “Not Just Football with Cam Heyward,” and made a few reveals.

He detailed how teammates that included wide receivers DK Metcalf, Roman Wilson, Michael Pittman Jr. and Ben Skowronek, along with tight end Pat Freiermuth and quarterback Mason Rudolph, shared an experience together.

Rodgers described the experience as a vulnerable one, where the team shared events such as horseback riding, paddleboarding and nightly campfires. The 42-year-old made a personal reveal about Metcalf.

Rodgers spoke about how Metcalf let Rodgers in on how he moved back to Mississippi this offseason, and how he finds him and his story so interesting and how he cares about him.

“DK moved back to Mississippi this offseason, and he’s been a different person,” Rodgers revealed. “I just love DK. I think he’s just a really interesting guy. His story is amazing. I think he’s just played so damn good, and he’s just happy, and I just love it for DK because I care about him so much.”

Pittsburgh will begin the 2026 NFL regular season with a home opener at Acrisure Stadium against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, Sept. 13, at 1 p.m. ET.
