The 2026 season has taken such an ugly turn for the Philadelphia Eagles that people are already speculating about Jalen Hurts’ future.
Hurts has looked mediocre at best this season, completing 59.6% of his passes for 713 yards with seven touchdowns and three interceptions. After being outplayed by Case Keenum in Week 3 against the Chicago Bears, he had just 93 passing yards in a second-half collapse against the Los Angeles Rams.
While the Eagles remain committed to Hurts at this time, there’s some noise about him eventually joining the Pittsburgh Steelers.
“I just received a disturbing premonition where the Eagles move on from their QB and he ends up moving to the next city in the state……” Steelers writer Nick Martin said.

That post from Martin didn’t exactly sit well with Pittsburgh’s fan base. It’s pretty evident they don’t want to see Hurts wearing black and yellow anytime soon.
“I really just don’t have the heart to watch 17 games of Jalen Hurts, man,” Joey Bray of Behind the Steel Curtain replied.
“I’d rather keep Rodgers until he’s fifty before I watch Hurts play a snap in Pittsburgh,” one fan wrote.
“Going Justin Fields to Late Career Russ to Late Career Rodgers to Hurts is just the Spider-Man pointing meme with four spider-men,” another fan said.
Don’t expect Hurts to go anywhere.
Even though Hurts has struggled this season, Philadelphia would take on $85.2 million in dead cap if they trade him next offseason. A post-June 1 trade would give them the chance to break up that money between 2027 and 2028, but it would still be too large of a pill to swallow.
Realistically speaking, the Eagles can’t get out of Hurts’ contract until after the 2027 season.
With that being said, the pressure is on Hurts to fix Philadelphia’s offensive woes.
