The Pittsburgh Steelers suffered a close loss to the Cleveland Browns in Week 4.
On Thursday night, the marquee matchup between the two AFC North rivals took place at Huntington Bank Field.
Cleveland eked out a 27-24 win led by star quarterback Deshaun Watson, who completed 24-of-33 passes for 268 yards, one touchdown and one interception.
However, one play in the first quarter stood out. Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf taunted his opponents after a seven-yard catch on a third-and-3.
Metcalf tossed the ball to a couple of Browns defenders who were on the ground. According to the broadcast, the Steelers wide receiver had something to say as well, prompting the officials to throw a flag on the play.
Metcalf was flagged for taunting, resulting in a 15-yard penalty against the Steelers. The NFL will now review the incident and determine whether his actions will warrant a fine. Taunting violations carry a $11,941 fine for a first offense and $17,911 for a second, under the NFL’s fines schedule.
Metcalf and the Steelers now await the league’s decision. The NFL typically announces player fines on Saturdays.
The two-time Pro Bowler has been involved in other incidents throughout his career, most recently a physical altercation with a Detroit Lions fan during a game in December 2025.
The 28-year-old, drafted in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, has earned a reputation as a high-emotion player on the field.
Pittsburgh will look to bounce back against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 5. The Steelers head back home to Acrisure Stadium to host the Colts on Oct. 11.
