The Pittsburgh Steelers aren’t exactly eager to fly to Paris for their Week 7 game against the New Orleans Saints.
According to Jeff Hathhorn, the Steelers will take a redeye flight to Paris tonight. Their plan is to head straight to the practice fields once they land. The Saints, on the other hand, have been in Paris since the start of this week.
With that being said, Pittsburgh’s coaching staff is facing a bit of criticism for traveling to Paris so late in the week.

“This whole thing seems very dumb to me,” Andrew Fillipponi of 93.7 The Fan said.
“This is one of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen. Every NFL plane ride is pure card games, movie watching, and guys hanging out. Thinking that “they’ll sleep overnight” on the plane is so stupid. The Saints are already in Paris getting acclimated. I hate poorly ran organizations,” former NFL player Breiden Fehoko wrote on X.
“Saints are winning this thing. Just dumb way to handle this week,” Jarrett Bailey of SB Nation commented.
We’ve seen travel plans backfire this NFL season.
In Week 1, the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams squared off in Australia. The 49ers were in Australia a week before the game, whereas the Rams arrived just a day before kickoff.
“Sometimes you win, sometimes you learn,” Rams coach Sean McVay said after the loss. “And sometimes you have a coach that makes travel plans that put you in a bad spot.”
Hopefully for Mike McCarthy’s sake, his strategy for Week 7 doesn’t backfire in a major way.
