Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham has plenty of reasons to celebrate this week.
For starters, Cunningham has to be thrilled about the Fever playing some of their best basketball this August. They’ve gone 8-2 in their past 10 games and have the makings of a true title contender.
Of course, Cunningham should also be in a great mood this week since she just celebrated her 30th birthday.

Sports Illustrated Swimsuit honored Cunningham’s birthday by sharing photos from her rookie shoot. The WNBA star posed for photos at South Seas Resort on Captiva Island.
“It really was so fun,” Cunningham said, via SI Swimsuit. “You just feel so empowered, and something I really do love about it is like, they choose … different body sizes, shapes and sizes, different ethnicities, like they just like empower all types of women and it really was like frickin’ awesome. It was awesome.”
Cunningham added that she was “really proud” of her work with SI Swimsuit.
The WNBA has worked closely with SI Swimsuit.
Cunningham wasn’t the only WNBA player who posed for SI Swimsuit this year. Minnesota Lynx superstar Napheesa Collier was also featured in this year’s magazine.
“This was such an amazing opportunity,” Collier said. “Grateful for everyone involved in making my dreams come true.”
WNBA stars Sue Bird, Cameron Brink, Nneka Ogwumike and Breanna Stewart have also worked with SI Swimsuit in the past.
