Ahead of the Daytona 500, Spire Motorsports wants everyone to know Carson Hocevar is their guy, and he ain't going anywhere. Spire and Hocevar have agreed to a long-term contract extension.
Long-term could mean a lot of things. NASCAR teams and drivers generally make agreements on a two or three-year basis. A longer-term contract would be five years. According to Spire, this will keep Hocevar in the seat into the next decade.
While Carson Hocevar hasn't won a race yet, he is considered to be a high-ceiling talent in the Cup Series. There aren't many organizations that would say no to having him in one of their cars. Spire has made him, essentially, a franchise driver. He is the face of the organization moving forward.

On social media, Carson Hocear said he was "ready for the next decade." If this is a ten-year contract, it would be one of the longest contract extensions in the Cup Series currently. Ryan Blaney signed a massive extension in 2022 with Team Penske that, at the time, secured his seat "well into the next decade."
Has Carson Hocevar done as much as 2022 Ryan Blaney up to this point? It is easy to say no. However, Spire Motorsports has made a move and signaled that they believe Hocevar is worth the investment. We will see how that plays out in 2026.
There were times last night in the Clash that made Hocevar look really good. He got into a few incidents on the track and had to settle for a P15 finish. Hocevar showed that he could win a superpseedway race last year when he came up short at Atlanta.
Carson Hocevar has come so close to winning. Is this the year he breaks through and shows Spire just made the best investment possible for its future?
