Sophie Cunningham established herself as a fiery enforcer and a reliable backup guard for the Indiana Fever in her first season with the team. In 2025, she averaged 8.6 points on a career-high 43.2% shooting from deep, along with 3.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.0 steal.
The 29-year-old signed a one-year deal in the offseason to return to the Fever for the 2026 campaign.
Cunningham impressed in the Fever's preseason game against the New York Liberty last Saturday, recording 13 points, two rebounds, one assist and two steals to help Indiana secure a 109-91 victory.

Amid the excitement surrounding her return and how she can further make an impact on Indiana, however, Cunningham made headlines for a different reason.
Prior to the contest, Cunningham turned heads with her pregame outfit. She wore a simple track pants and a sweatshirt, but the design of her attire stood out.
Cunningham's sweatshirt featured a cartoon version of herself, which fans absolutely loved.
"Oooo I want Sophie’s sweat shirt hahah," a commenter wrote. Another one said, "Sophie, I love that sweatshirt, where can I get one??"
"Sophie and her mini her," a poster added.
"Love your shirt Soph," a supporter noted.
A fifth follower shared, "Lol Sophie the Trophy is wearing a shirt with herself on it. Where do I get that sweatshirt at??"
"Sophia sweatshirt is cute," a poster noted.
The Fever ended up losing to the Wings, 95-80. Cunningham struggled in the game, scoring just one point in 14 minutes of play. She also recorded just one rebound.
Still, there are plenty of positives to take from the game. For one, Caitlin Clark finished with 21 points on 4-of-6 shooting. The All-Star guard also had two rebounds and four assists.
The Fever will kick off the 2026 season on May 9 against the Wings. Sure enough, there will be plenty of eyes on Cunningham, Clark and the rest of the team, watching whatever they do on and off the court.
