Sophie Cunningham is loving the support that has been coming her way.
The Indiana Fever guard went super viral earlier this week, when she got into it with Phoenix Mercury forward DeWanna Bonner. Cunningham continued to point her finger at Bonner, who was upset following a skirmish. The moment quickly went viral on social media, immediately becoming a meme.
Millions upon millions of people have watched Cunningham point her finger at Bonner, ina. moment that went super viral.
"The fact that Sophie triggered almost an entire league with just a simple point of a finger is just crazy motion 😂😂😂😂😂," one fan wrote.
Cunningham, who is in Year 2 with the Indiana Fever, has quickly become a fan favorite - at least for some WNBA fans.
The former University of Missouri guard appreciates the support.
Cunningham's latest Instagram photo is a thank-you to the fans
Cunningham poked fun at the moment and played into the fan reaction with her latest Instagram photo and caption.
"👉🏼👆🏼👇🏼👈🏼☝🏼," she wrote.
The photo already has more than 126,000 likes.
Cunningham, meanwhile, believes that players are "targeting" Clark.
"You see the videos of literally kneeing and cheapshotting [Clark] in the throat... they're definitely targeting her and the league and the refs do nothing to protect her," Cunningham said on her podcast Saturday.
Cunningham didn't see Mercury forward Alyssa Thomas hitting Clark in the neck until after the game.
"During real time last night, I did not see that happen," Cunningham said. "None of our team saw it happen because I promise you if we would have seen that happen, we would have had her back."
"Unfortunately, this type of [expletive] happens every single game to her and the league and the refs do absolutely nothing about it."
The WNBA continues to face scrutiny, meanwhile.
