Another pro-Sophie Cunningham demonstration took place outside of a WNBA arena on Saturday night.
The New York Liberty hosted the Indiana Fever at Barclays Center. The Fever fell to the Liberty, 109-102, in a tight game.
Outside of the arena, several pro-Sophie Cunningham – and anti-transgender athletes – supporters gathered to show support for the Indiana Fever guard. On the opposite side, pro-transgender athlete supporters gathered as well.
Sportico caught up with several fans on both sides of the issue, asking them to name five WNBA players. Many supporters of Cunningham could not do it.

“I can name Sophie Cunningham and Caitlin Clark, that’s all I’ve got,” one Cunningham supporter said.
“No I cannot, I’m sorry,” another Cunningham supporter said.
“I sure can,” one Cunningham supporter said. “Sophie Cunningham, uh, it’s always fun…Caitlin Clark, Reese, A’ja (Wilson)…I said Caitlin Clark.”
“Probably not, no. I could name Sophie Cunningham and Caitlin Clark, that’s it.”
Cunningham supporters face criticism for lack of knowledge
“If Sophie is bringing eyes to the sport, you would think they could have at least mentioned five of the players from the Fever. Welp, I hope they enjoyed watching Ellie and seeing the 🗽 win,” one fan wrote.
“It’s almost like one side actually cares about women’s sports & the other is doing so performatively to culture war hijack the midterms…,” one fan added.
“Notice that the Liberty fans can actually name five while the Fever fans can’t.😆😆😆,” one fan added.
“The fact they can’t even name the 5 starters 🤣 that coulda been a cheap way to get to 5 and they still cant,” one fan added.
The Fever dropped to 24-14 on the season with the loss to the Liberty on Saturday evening.
