Sophie Cunningham and the Indiana Fever kept their 2026 season alive on Tuesday night, tying the first-round series up at 1-1 after a 99-89 win over A’ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces in the WNBA playoffs. Now, the Fever will head back to Las Vegas to face the Aces in Game 3 on Thursday, with the winner moving on to the semifinals.
With just over four minutes to play in the game and the Fever up 11, Cunningham attempted to draw a charge on Wilson, getting knocked to the floor before the Indiana guard was called for a blocking foul. After the play, a fan got into it with Wilson on the baseline, pointing at the WNBA MVP and exchanging words with her.
The fan was later removed from his seat by security, but was eventually allowed back. Wilson, on the other hand, received a technical foul for the incident and will be fined by the WNBA.

But on Wednesday, one day after the Fever took down the Aces in Game 2, Cunningham broke her silence on the incident with Wilson at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, calling it a “comeback year for the point.”
Cunningham was referencing her memorable exchange with DeWanna Bonner during the Fever’s 86-77 win over the Phoenix Mercury on June 22. After Caitlin Clark and Bonner, her former teammate, exchanged words, Cunningham and Bonner began trash-talking each other before Cunningham silently pointed back at the Mercury forward for more than 20 seconds.
“IYKYK… Yikes,” Cunningham said on TikTok. “Not trying to be dramatic at all, like seriously. I was just here having my morning coffee and what a damn comeback year for the point. Who would have ever thought? Just who would have ever thought?”
Cunningham and the Fever will take on Wilson and the Aces in Game 3 on Thursday at 9 p.m. ET.
