It sure looks like Sophie Cunningham’s podcasting stint has come to an end.
There’s been plenty of chatter surrounding Cunningham ever since her interview with ESPN where she talked about protecting women’s sports from transgender inclusion. Her comments have led to some fans booing her every time she steps on the hardwood. On the flip side, there have also been some pro-Cunningham rallies at WNBA arenas.
“I got a lot of negative feedback about me hating trans,” Cunningham told ESPN. “And I’m like, ‘I never once said that.’ I think that I am here to extend love. But I also think with that love is truth, being honest. And I want to protect young girls in a locker room, or young girls in sport who shouldn’t have to go against biological men.”
Cunningham’s podcast co-host, reality TV star West Wilson, had a much different take on this hot topic.
“Okay, transgender athletes in American sports is such a borderline nonexistent issue that right-wingers have convinced a massive portion of people in our country that it— that these people are like a threat to sports in America when mathematically that’s not the case at all,” Wilson said. “And by continuing to platform this, f—-ng politicians, athletes, journalists, news outlets, you’re only isolating transgender people even more by making them seem like this giant group of people is a threat to society, a threat to sports, when that’s just not proportionately the truth in any capacity.”

Interestingly enough, there hasn’t been a new episode of “Show Me Something” since June 27. Perhaps that show has run its course.
“Wilson and multiple representatives for The Volume did not respond to requests for comment,” Awful Announcing reported. “Sophie Cunningham could not be reached.”
What about Sophie’s WNBA career?
Cunningham is in the conversation for Sixth Player of the Year, averaging 8.3 points and 2.3 rebounds per game for the Indiana Fever. Although her production has been fine, some people are convinced she’ll be out of the league soon.
“Before the trans comments Sophie probably had job security in this league based on her shooting. Post comments and everything it’s led to I’m not sure the juice is worth the squeeze for any franchise next season. Her play has nosedived and she’s brought a negative circus,” one fan wrote.
“She might get blackballed next year,” another fan added.
Cunningham will return to the court on Sept. 18 when the Fever play the Tempo.
