Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham, who is averaging 9.6 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game in the 2026 season, recently went viral for her gesture toward Phoenix Mercury forward and former teammate DeWanna Bonner.
To recall, in the fourth quarter of the June 22 game between the Fever and Mercury, the referees issued five technical fouls. Among those were a double technical on Cunningham and Bonner for their pointing match.
What made the moment stand out was the fact that Cunningham pointed at Bonner for 22 seconds without saying anything, while the Mercury veteran was visibly heated and said several things to her.
According to Cunningham, she did it because it was making Bonner angry.
"I was just kind of pointing and she's like, 'Don’t you point at me!' I was like, 'Oh, shouldn't have said that.' And I didn't say a word," Cunningham shared.

The image of Cunningham pointing at Bonner has since become a meme, with the Fever guard herself fully embracing it, even though she admitted it's "so goofy."
As the moment continues to spark buzz, someone collected several memes created from the viral pointing gesture and made a 2027 calendar using those photos. Cunningham, for her part, saw the final product and asked if she could have one.
"Wait, can I get one?" Cunningham asked Sports Hub, the Instagram account that shared the video of the calendar.
For what it's worth, it didn't take long for Cunningham's request to be granted. The Sports Hub account responded to the WNBA veteran and told her the calendar was hers.
"OMG Sophie, we will give you the calendar for free," Sports Hub replied to Cunningham's message.
