Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham is taunting Las Vegas Aces forward A’ja Wilson over her fan incident on Tuesday night.
Wilson was hit with a technical foul, but not ejected, for going into the stands to confront an Indiana Fever fan who had pointed at her during the fourth quarter. The Fever fan pointed at Wilson following a foul call, appearing to signal that the foul was on her. Wilson took exception to the point and stormed into the stands to confront the fan.
The fan was initially removed from their seat, though he was ultimately allowed to return, after stadium security determined that he did not violate any rules.
On Wednesday, Cunningham took to her TikTok account, taunting Wilson over the incident.
“Not trying to be dramatic, like at all, like seriously, I was just here having my morning coffee and, what a (expletive) comeback year for the point,” she remarked while smiling.
“Who would have ever thought…just who would have ever thought?”
Cunningham had a similar pointing incident during a regular season game earlier this year, with WNBA veteran DeWanna Bonner.
The Indiana Fever star appeared to hint in the caption of her post that she thinks Wilson probably should’ve been ejected, or maybe suspended, for going into the stands, too.
“according to the rule book…..” she wrote.
The WNBA has yet to say if Wilson will face further punishment
Wilson was technically in violation of the WNBA’s player rules, as it states that no player should go into the stands unless it’s part of a natural basketball play.
And while Wilson was hit with a technical foul, she could have been ejected, or perhaps even face suspension, for her actions.
It’ll be interesting to see if WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert issues any further punishment.
Game 3 is set for Thursday night at 9 p.m. E.T.
