Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham knows a thing or two about silencing critics. Count her among Pete Crow-Armstrong's loudest supporters.
On Saturday night at Busch Stadium, the Chicago Cubs center fielder found himself in the middle of a hostile crowd. St. Louis Cardinals fans chanted "overrated" at the 24-year-old star all night.
With the Cubs leading 3-1 in the eighth inning, Crow-Armstrong answered by crushing a pitch 444 feet into the Cardinals' viral "Tarps Off" section for his seventh home run of the season.
MLB's official Instagram page shared the video.
"Pete Crow-Armstrong writes the latest chapter in a storied rivalry 😮" the league wrote.
Cunningham replied to the post and made her stance known, having none of the Cardinals fans' slander.
"tell them boys to shut their mf trap @petecrowarmstrong 🔥🔥" she wrote.
Crow-Armstrong saved his best for last, capping the Cubs' 6-1 victory with a sliding catch on the game's final play. The 24-year-old finished 4-for-5 with a double, a homer and two RBIs.
Cunningham and Crow-Armstrong go back further than one Instagram comment. The two were photographed together at a Cubs-Rockies spring training game in Mesa, Arizona, in February.
Her defense of Crow-Armstrong comes naturally. The Fever enforcer knows what it means to block out the noise.
A torn MCL cut Cunningham’s 2025 WNBA season short after just 30 games. She returned fully healthy for the 2026 campaign, currently averaging 9.8 points and shooting 46.3 percent from the field. The 29-year-old has added 2.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists across eight games for the 4-4 Fever.
Different sports, same mentality. Crow-Armstrong and Cunningham both know how to turn doubt into fuel.
