Sophie Cunningham went viral on TikTok earlier this week, for her WNBA pregame music claim.
The Indiana Fever guard, who is in her second season with the WNBA, made it clear on social media that she does not listen to rap music before games. She played some country music as she danced around her hotel room.
“‘Them: What rap songs do you listen to before games?'”
“‘Me: (Dances to country music song).'”
The video quickly went viral, amassing more than six million views on TikTok, as fans complimented her music choices.
“Sophie Cunningham is the only one,” one fan wrote.
“I love you three. But Lexie Hall is pure genius. Post game telling the media I go out there and I try to grab as many balls as possible. Pure genius. And CC telling her oh Lexie. That could not have been scripted better. You guys are awesome, I hope you win the championship.❤️,” one fan added.
“Love this woman. How can anyone not like this lady,” one fan added.
You can like whatever kind of music you want, obviously. However, Cunningham was quickly given a “Community Note” for appearing to change her mind.
Cunningham gets ‘Community Note’ for claim
A tweet with close to 20 million views stated: “Sophie Cunningham makes it known she doesn’t listen to rap songs before games.”
However, Cunningham’s claim was quickly given a “Community Note” – a dreaded “correction” on social media when something that goes viral is actually misleading or straight up lying.
“In a 2025 interview, Sophie named Lil Wayne and Drake as some of the artists in her pregame listening rotation,” the Community Note stated.
Cunningham certainly knows how to go viral, however, in this case, she’s rightfully getting called out for appearing to mislead people on her music claims.
