The Indiana Fever saw their five-game winning streak snapped Thursday, falling 91-85 to the Dallas Wings in a game that went down to the wire. Kelsey Mitchell led all scorers with 37 points, while Arike Ogunbowale matched her with a season-high 35 for Dallas. Awak Kuier also made an impact defensively, recording seven blocks, the most recorded in a single game in the WNBA this season and a new Wings franchise record.
Caitlin Clark had a difficult night by her standards, finishing with 10 points on 4-of-15 shooting. She still found ways to contribute by dishing out nine assists, but Indiana needed more scoring around Mitchell as Dallas held off a late push.
Another player who struggled to provide a spark on offense was Sophie Cunningham. The Fever guard finished with zero points in 15 minutes, going 0-for-4 from 3-point range.

Her performance drew criticism from fans after the loss:

It was an unusual shooting night for Cunningham, who has been one of Indiana’s most reliable perimeter threats. The veteran guard ranks third in the WNBA in 3-point percentage, and she is shooting 44.4% from beyond the arc this season. She is also averaging 8.6 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists while shooting 47.4% overall.
The loss dropped Indiana to 24-13. Cunningham and the Fever will have little time to dwell on the defeat, with another difficult matchup coming Saturday against the New York Liberty at Barclays Center. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
