Caitlin Clark served an eye-catching assist to fellow WNBA superstar Paige Bueckers in their opening game at the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup on Friday.
The Indiana Fever guard had a strong start to her World Cup campaign, leading Team USA to a 94-61 win over China. The 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year racked up a double-double of 14 points and 11 assists with three boards.
One of her dimes during the game was a no-look pass to Dallas Wings star Bueckers. FIBA posted the video in slo-mo, and it perfectly captured Clark’s elite passing skills.
“CC🤝PB A connection that runs through Indiana and Dallas all the way to Berlin 🫶,” the caption read.
Clark cut through China’s defense before finding a cutting Bueckers, who pulled up for a silky smooth mid-range jumper.
The reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year also finished with 14 points, to go along with four assists and two steals.
Both players have played well for their respective WNBA teams this season, helping Indiana and Dallas secure playoff spots. Clark is averaging 22.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, 8.4 assists and 1.0 steals per game, while Bueckers is racking up 20.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 5.9 assists.
Team USA will now look to replicate its dominant performance against Italy and the Czech Republic in their remaining Group D games. If they sweep these upcoming games, the Americans will be able to secure an outright spot in the quarterfinals.
