Shedeur Sanders is barely into his NFL career and he's already checking off boxes most rookies haven't thought about yet. The Cleveland Browns quarterback walked across the stage at Folsom Field on Saturday, graduating from the University of Colorado Boulder just one year after leaving the program for the draft.
It was a full-circle moment. Returning to the same field where he built his college legacy, this time in a cap and gown instead of a jersey.
What Shedeur Sanders Studied at Colorado
Fans who assumed he went the Business or Communications route, given his NIL success, might be surprised. Sanders graduated with a degree in Sociology, completing a large portion of his coursework online after making the jump to the NFL. Sanders finished with a 3.9 GPA.
The discipline that made him effective under center at Colorado carried over into the classroom too. Balancing an active professional career with finishing a degree is not something every young quarterback prioritizes, but Sanders got it done.
The University of Colorado shared video of the ceremony on X, giving fans a look at the moment Sanders officially closed that chapter.
Sanders' Legacy at Colorado
Managing a full course load while leading a high-profile program was never a small thing, especially as expectations around Sanders grew with each passing season. Before he ever received that diploma, Colorado had already retired his jersey. A move that doesn't happen often and speaks to the kind of mark he left on the program.
The on-field resume backs it up. In his final college season, Sanders threw for 4,134 yards, 37 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Across two seasons with the Buffaloes, he finished with 7,364 passing yards and 64 touchdowns while completing 71.8 percent of his passes. His full college career totals read 14,353 yards and 134 touchdowns, and he set a Division I record by throwing touchdown passes in 49 consecutive games.
The 2024 awards followed accordingly. Sanders won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, was named unanimous Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year and earned first-team All-Big 12 recognition across major outlets.
