Dave Portnoy blasted Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark for her poor performance against the Las Vegas Aces.
On Thursday, Indiana returned home to Gainbridge Fieldhouse after a three-game road trip and welcomed the reigning WNBA champions.
They led by as much as 20 points at one point of the game, but blew it and absorbed a tough 86-84 overtime loss. Clark had the chance to seal the game with two free throws with seven seconds left in the game when they were up by three.
However, the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year winner missed those crucial free throws, which allowed the Aces to hit a three-point buzzer-beater courtesy of Chelsea Gray to force overtime.
Then in the extra period, Clark once again had a crucial turnover in the dying seconds, which gave Gray another chance to hit another buzzer-beating three-pointer to win the game.
Known Clark fan Dave Portnoy quickly made his thoughts known via a post on X. He didn’t sugarcoat the Fever guard’s bad outing.
“Caitlin Clark didnt play great tonight,” Portnoy wrote. “2 huge missed free throws down the stretch and a huge turnover at the end of OT. No excuses. She sucked.”
The Barstool Sports founder also pointed out that he has been very transparent about his opinion of Clark, be it in a positive or negative light.
“Thats the beauty of me,” he continued. “I always answer the bell good, bad, or indifferent. Need more leaders taking accountability like I just did.”
Clark finished the game with 20 points, three rebounds and eight assists, but her 2-for-10 shooting from downtown overshadowed her decent scoring production.
Meanwhile, Kelsey Mitchell led all scorers with her game-high 28 points, but it wasn’t enough to secure the win in front of their home crowd.
