Several fans could be punished after Game 1 of the NBA Finals.
Game 1 of the 2026 NBA Finals was a bit of a stunner. The New York Knicks topped the San Antonio Spurs in a surprise upset on the road. New York, leading 1-0, was led by All-NBA guard Jalen Brunson.
But in the second half of Game 1, a fan rushed the court, attempting to take a selfie with Victor Wembanyama. Two fans have ultimately been banned for life as a result of the stunt.
"The individual who entered the court area during Game 1 of The Finals was arrested and will be banned for life from all NBA arenas. A second individual will also receive a lifetime ban for his role in the incident," the league announced.

But they are not the only fans who could be punished.
The NBA is investigating alleged vulgar taunts and chants at Brunson. It's possible that some more severe punishment could come as a result.
More NBA fans could be punished for Game 1 behavior
The NBA is officially looking into “vulgar” courtside fans who allegedly taunted Brunson during Game 1 of the NBA Finals, according to Chris Haynes.
The fans allegedly made profane “flopping” remarks towards Brunson late in Game 1 of Finals. Brunson met with the referees following the game, to speak about the incident.
Brunson was seen getting into it with fans with less than 30 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter and the Knicks up, 104-95.
It was a tense atmosphere in San Antonio on Wednesday night, but some lines were crossed, apparently.
If the NBA is able to identify and confirm vulgar, inappropriate comments were made toward Brunson, those fans could be banned or disciplined, as well.
Game 2 is set for Friday night.
