Seth Rollins has not appeared on WWE television since his World Heavyweight Championship match against Roman Reigns at SummerSlam. “The Visionary” recently addressed his absence and admitted that he does not know when he will return to Monday Night RAW.
Rollins spoke with “ESPN Chicago” and was asked whether he could provide an update on his WWE status. He explained that he had been taking some time away from television while focusing on other things, rather than giving fans a specific timeframe for his return.
“No, I wish I could, honestly. I’ve been off WWE television since SummerSlam. Had a title match with Roman Reigns in Minneapolis, lost that match. I’m just taking my time right now, kind of focusing on other things. At the end of the day, you know, I’ll come back when the time’s right.”
Rollins’ last televised match took place at SummerSlam on August 2, where he challenged “The OTC” for the World Heavyweight Championship in the main event. Reigns retained after hitting Rollins with a third Spear, with the two former Shield teammates sharing the group’s trademark fist bump after the match.
Although Rollins has stayed away from WWE television, he did return to in-ring action during WWE’s recent South American house show tour. He competed in non-televised events in the region and spoke highly of the response from fans who attended the shows.
“I was able to go down to South America a couple weeks ago and do some non-televised events for the South American and Mexican fans down there, really fantastic crowds. I mean, just unbelievable. Their passion for professional wrestling, what we do, is unparalleled, and they’re not—they’re not spoiled like the American crowds, you know? They don’t get shows very often.”
Seth Rollins also hoped his experience on the tour would encourage WWE to bring more events to the region. He said the crowds made the trip particularly memorable and expressed his desire to see the company return more regularly.
Seth Rollins’ WWE Return Plans Have Reportedly Changed

Rollins’ absence had previously led to speculation that he could return around Money in the Bank. A recent report from WrestleVotes via “Fightful Select,” however, stated that WWE had once considered plans for “The Visionary” at the event, but those plans had since shifted. The report added that his television return was still lined up, with WWE waiting for what it considered the right time to bring him back.
That report arrived shortly before Rollins spoke with ESPN Chicago, giving some context to his decision not to provide a specific return date. His own comments also suggested that fans should not expect him to rush back simply because he had already resumed wrestling at live events.
Rollins’ next public appearance was set to come away from WWE, as he was scheduled to appear on NFL Network to discuss football. His WWE return, meanwhile, remained open-ended.
For now, Seth Rollins has given fans one clear answer: he isn’t ready to set a date for his comeback. With WWE reportedly having adjusted its earlier plans, his eventual return will come when the company and the star decide the timing is right.
